The unincorporated community of Horizon West traces its roots back to 1995 when a coalition of local property owners and Orange County planners joined forces to transform thousands of acres of devastated citrus groves into a premier master-planned development. Strongly influenced by the core urban design principles of New Urbanism and Garden Cities, the massive 21,000-acre territory was engineered into five walkable village enclaves surrounding a large centralized commercial district. Today, the absolute top attraction is the booming Hamlin Town Center, a beautifully manicured lakeside mixed-use promenade featuring elite dine-in cinemas, artisanal eateries, open-air retail spaces, and vibrant waterfront plazas. The territory is highly celebrated for its extreme proximity to the Walt Disney World Resort, allowing thousands of residential families to view the nightly theme park fireworks directly from their neighborhood streets and backyards. Popular local activities include shopping at the open-air Hamlin waterfront center, picking seasonal berries at local family farms, attending community food truck rallies, and cycling across miles of interconnected neighborhood trails. Logistically, Horizon West is situated about 25 miles west of Orlando International Airport (MCO). It is located approximately 38 miles southwest of Orlando Sanford International Airport (SFB). Reaching the primary shopping and dining avenues of Disney Springs requires an exceptionally short 10-mile commute via State Road 429. Beachgoers can access the closest coastal tide at Cocoa Beach, situated a 68-mile drive to the east.
